About You / What We Are Looking For
Reporting to the Manager of Transportation Infrastructure, the Team Lead, Transportation Development plays a key role in providing leadership to a team of dedicated transportation engineering professionals. This position will play an important part in leading transportation components in the land development application process and supporting the City’s strategic goals and objectives of planning critical transportation infrastructure with land use plans that supports additional housing for a growing population. Key duties include:
- Mentor and guide a team of passionate transportation engineering professionals, fostering employee engagement, their growth and ensuring high team performance.
- Offer strategic input on corporate initiatives and policies, contributing to the City’s long-term goals.
- Conduct thorough transportation reviews of land development applications, ensuring the integration and delivery of multi-modal transportation infrastructure in alignment with City requirements, industry best practices, and strategic plans.
- Act as a City ambassador, effectively liaising with engineering consultants, developers, external agencies, and the public to represent the City’s interests.
- Define terms of reference and perform detailed technical reviews of transportation impact studies.
- Create innovative conceptual designs, including cross-sections, road network plans, high-level cost estimates, and solutions.
- Review and direct detailed civil designs and infrastructure servicing requirements to ensure compliance and quality.
- Participate in public information and engagement meetings, providing expert insights and addressing community concerns.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations, and assist in responding to queries from Council, committees, and the public.
- Collaborate on the development transportation network and servicing within the Transportation Division and across multiple departments.
Minimum Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have a university degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with specialized courses and training in transportation engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible and directly related experience.
- Experience leading transportation components of land development applications and developing and mentoring engineering technologists and/or Engineers-in-Training (EIT) are considered strong assets.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with the Engineering & Geoscientists of BC or out of province equivalent.
What We Offer:
This excluded position has an annual salary range of $122,343 - $137,618. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
