Description:
360°kids is a vitally important community agency serving all of York Region. We have been a leader in the delivery of innovative support services for more than 35 years as we work to improve the lives of unhoused and marginalized youth and families in York Region. At 360°kids, we provide a unique continuum of care approach with programs and services that are essential to the health and well-being of youth. These proven strategies help to keep youth safe by providing stable housing options with 360° wraparound supports.
Plans, leads, executes, and manages the day to day operations of the Youth rive and York Region Pop-Up Programs in accordance with regulatory requirements, 360°kids’ policies, mission, and vision of the organization. Oversees a team of workers to deliver sound and innovative programming that promotes physical activity, healthy eating and nutrition, positive personal development, and wellness, and to engage and support elementary and primary school aged children and families in our community. Conveys and demonstrates leadership style that supports a culture of inclusion and community capacity building. Reports to the Manager of Support Programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day organization and operation of the Youth rive and York Region Pop-Up Programs.
- Working with program staff, volunteers and community partners will research, develop, implement, and facilitate various activities that promote physical activity, healthy eating and nutrition, positive personal development, and wellness, and to engage and support elementary and primary school aged children and families in our community.
- Work in consultation with Manager of Support Programs to select and facilitate activities aimed at achieving the desired outcomes as outlined in the operations plan.
- Works with the Manager of Support Programs to ensure that the programs are in line with the stated mission and vision of the organization.
- Ensures that the Youth rive and Home Base Vaughan sites and activities comply with applicable standards and laws.
- In the event of a crisis or critical incident, exercises judgment and initiative in managing contact with management.
- Provides direction to staff in terms of operations & programs, in accordance with the approved Strategic Plan of 360°kids.
- Ensures that appropriate policies, procedures, and methods are being utilized.
- Communicates the mission, values of 360°kids to employees, and other stakeholders.
- Along with the Manager of Support Programs, provides leadership to the Youthrive and York Region Pop-Up programs in team building and motivation of employees, manages for high performance and oversees plans for the training, development, and retention of staff to ensure ongoing competent, experienced and effective management of the programs.
- Makes regular site visits to ensure support and quality control of each program site.
- In consultation with the Manager of Support Programs hires and terminates staff for all program positions. Recruits and supervises volunteers and students.
- Participates in regular supervision meetings and performance appraisal meetings on a semiannual basis. Facilitates regular staff meetings to ensure effective communication and training is provided consistently.
- Work with 360˚staff to ensure program(s) success while positively contributing to organizational needs.
- Represents 360°kids and/or the Youthrive and York Region Pop-Up programs to the social service network, regulators, and to the general public.
- In conjunction with the Manager of Support Programs, assists in the sound financial management and appropriate controls of the program’s budget, and provides leadership to the team and direction with regard to financial management of the Programs budget.
- Promotes the public relations activities of the Programs and is aware of the public relations activities of the organization.
- Provides reports and related information as required to the Manager of Support Programs, other designated organizations, and appropriate regulatory agencies and ensures staff completes mandatory recording and reporting.
Experience and Skills Required
- Post-Secondary degree/diploma Child/youth related field (e.g. Child and Youth, Social Service Worker, Social Worker, Psychology, Sociology) or the equivalent combination of education and experience working with children or youth.
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with children or youth, plus at least one year supervisory or management experience.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).Car and valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Leadership skills, including motivation, delegation, coaching/mentoring and empowerment and the ability to motivate staff.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to be adaptable with a flexible approach taking into consideration the unique qualities of each client.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills that promote positive team building, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
- Will possess a broad knowledge of community resources and the ability to strongly advocate for clients and professional referrals.
- Relationship building and management skills, to support relationships with peers, staff, partners and ministry officials and other stakeholders.
