Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Team Leader to manage and supervise our state wide Allied Professional Services (APS) staff within the Criminal Law Division. You will develop and implement strategic plans to meet the socio-legal needs of clients while ensuring high-quality, culturally safe services.
You will have demonstrated abilities in developing and maintaining effective working relationships across an organisation, government departments and other key stakeholders.
We may use this recruitment to create a talent pool for similar ongoing or temporary vacancies we have over the next 18 months.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Team Leader Allied Professional Services for Crime will manage allied staff working in that practice areas such as in the high-risk offender program and at Walama Court. This position will be largely responsible to develop and manage a pilot program that will see allied professionals placed within four of Legal Aid’s busiest Court districts. These four positions will focus to provide case management to defendants on DV list days.
THE ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE
You must:
- have a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Social Work, or related field such as Psychology.
- provide eligibility for Professional Registration
- have a minimum 7 years practice experience
- be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check
- hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
