mdf commerce Inc . is an international team of approximately 650 experts who develop a broad set of SaaS solutions to optimize and accelerate commercial interactions of its B2B and B2G customers.
Working in the eprocurement sector, we are currently looking for a Team Leader, BackEnd Development to join our team.

Responsibilities:

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES LOOK LIKE?

In this role, you will be led to:

  • Manage a team of 4 BackEnd Developers on a daily basis.
  • Be proficient in all aspects of software development including implementing requirements, generating documentation, unit testing, troubleshooting, packaging and deploying solutions.
  • Deliver quality software. You will have end-to-end ownership of what you build, from initial requirements reviews and architecture, to development and testing.
  • Understand, comply with, and enforce development standards to ensure consistency across the larger development team.
  • Develop custom software on top of an existing base to meet a client’s specific needs.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure client specifications are being met.
  • Remain knowledgeable of emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities.
  • Collaborate with the development team, Architect and Product Owner to implement best practices and technical solutions.
  • Collaborate in the selection process of the best technologies.
  • Encourage and ensure continuous improvement of the team.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring, act as a facilitator/moderator, problem solver and participate in team workload.
  • Set goals and take ownership of team member evaluation. Provide constructive feedback and ensure performance levels.
  • Be an ambassador of the company’s values.

WHAT ELEMENTS OF YOUR PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND WILL BE NECESSARY AND USEFUL IN THIS ROLE?

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related degree.
  • At least 10 years of software development experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing people.
  • Experience with building and consuming API and Microservices.
  • Well versed in modern architecture and BackEnd software design.
  • Object-oriented programming knowledge.
  • Proficiency with languages such as Java, Python, SQL.
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies and platforms, such as JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap.
  • Experience with the design and implementation of APIs.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud development.
  • Comfortable with large datasets, relational vs. non-relational databases, experience with SQL Server.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
  • Excellent time-management and communication skills.
  • Teamwork skills with a problem-solving attitude.
  • Excellent English and French language skills, both oral and written, due to frequent interactions with English and French-speaking internal and external colleagues and partners across Canada and the United States.
