Our client a Cornish company established in using technology and high-quality engineering are seeking 2x Team Leaders for their site in the Bodmin area.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, understand use of chemicals and handle them in a safe and proper manner.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Team Leader in a Production setting.
  • Use of relevant computer systems including Excel, Word and preferably some experience with MRP systems.
  • Clean full UK driver’s license.
  • Hands on experience in assembly.
  • Able to participate in all training requirements of the role (these may be off site)

Responsibilities:

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

  • Lead a production team to achieve objectives in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
  • Provide day-to-day direction to employees while working as a member of the team in the area producing products.
  • To make key decisions on issues that arise during the shift including Health & Safety, Schedule Attainment, & Quality.
  • To create a culture of team focused performance based on clear, measurable objectives.
  • Act as Key Holder for production facilities.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Produce Products, whilst ensuring products are manufactured to schedule and according to the product specification and quality by all team members.
  • To facilitate daily manpower planning because of holiday or other team absences with team.
  • Build proactive capability and cross skilled staff to support future growth.
  • Uphold all safety policies and procedures for the related area, and relay safety improvement opportunities to management.
  • Ensure that all paperwork and IT system transactions are completed properly in the area.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and healthy work environment.
  • Manage Tool and Equipment repair and replacement.
  • Manage material usage and labour productivity.
  • Maintain and oversee point of use/shop floor inventory in related area.
  • Participate in Improvement activities.

OTHER DUTIES WHEN REQUIRED:

  • To act as a deputy of Production Manager.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to:
  • Identify and execute preventive maintenance needs.
  • Evaluate any need for department overtime to meet Production schedule.
  • Resolve all people-related issues including conflict.
  • To ensure new team members are trained in standard operating procedures.
  • To assist the team in problem solving and solution implementation.
  • Flag material shortages to Planner/Buyer.
  • Carry out and maintain Health and Safety Risk Assessments.
  • Communicate key messages to the team members.
  • Raise Product or Component Reject reports.
  • Develop and Maintain Product Build Standard Operating Procedures.
