An exciting leadership opportunity has become available in the Geosciences team in Queensland. Reporting to the Group Leader, Geotechnical Engineering, the Team Leader will provide leadership to their local team (likely 5-6 staff members in team) to ensure alignment to company strategy, initiatives, vision, and culture. You will be the advocate of the business both internally within Stantec and externally to clients and professional organisations within the region.

Responsibilities:

DAY TO DAY TASKS WOULD INVOLVE:

  • Support the Group Leader with monitoring and reporting on the performance of the team.
  • Work with partner Team Leaders (TLs) in other regions to drive collaboration and work sharing across the BC.
  • Initiate, plan and lead a diverse range of projects from inception to completion.
  • Provide geotechnical engineering services using a wide variety of investigation and analysis techniques.
  • Preparation and negotiation of bids and proposals.
  • Working with your Group Leader, you will:
    o Be responsible for the health and safety performance within their team, including the monitoring of leading and lagging indicators.
    o Be responsible for team utilisation by effective forecasting, networking, business development and delegation and development of backlog.
    o Be responsible for the team’s talent management lifecycle including but not limited to; recruitment suggestions, career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching and mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development.
    o Foster a success-oriented environment within your team by displaying collaborative behaviours and exerting measured and balanced influence.
    o Promote a happy, supportive, and inclusive culture aligned with the core values to support the strategic intent of the business.
    o Ensure all team members have a clear path towards their relevant Chartered Status and any Professional Registration requirements, where appropriate.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL FOR THIS ROLE YOU’LL NEED:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Geotechnical, Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology.
  • A minimum 7 years of professional work experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably with substantial experience in supervision of geotechnical investigations.
  • Chartered Engineering credentials (RPEQ / CPEng / NER) would be beneficial.
  • Ability to foster and grow a collaborative spirit between staff working within the region, BC and across the broader Stantec service lines.
  • A broad range of skills covering people management, business development and project delivery.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with the team as well as internal and external clients.
  • Highly developed consulting skills to liaise with clients and other stakeholders to achieve mutually successful project outcomes.
  • Well-developed problem solving and negotiations skills to resolve queries.
