  • Fixed term contract for 5 months, Full time
  • $97,099.24 per annum plus Superannuation

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Tertiary qualification in Nursing, Allied Health or Human Services, or a related field, and experience in working with older people and people with disabilities in a home or community setting; or lesser formal qualifications with substantial experience in working with older people and people with disabilities in a home or community setting.
  • Current driver’s licence.

As Team Leader Home Support Services, you will be responsible for the building, management and leadership of a team of Direct Care staff in an assigned geographical area as well contributing to the planning and implementation of changes responding to our growing community and ongoing reforms. You will have a proven ability to gain cooperation and communicate with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
You will also have experience in working with older people and individuals with disabilities, including managing and leading diverse teams. Demonstrated knowledge of the Home and Community Care Program for Younger People and Commonwealth Home Support Programme is desired

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of Home Support Services within allocated geographical regions ensuring operations are consistent with Council and Government policies, National Service Standards and accepted professional best practice.
  • Build into daily practice, continuous improvement systems to ensure ongoing improvements in care and service delivery for clients.
  • Establish and promote a culture of trust, respect, client focus, collaboration, and innovation across Aged and Disability Services.
  • Provide effective leadership and foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Manage Home Support Services within allocated geographical regions in accordance with available resources and funding guidelines.
  • Contribute to and participate in research, surveys, and benchmarking to plan for future service requirements.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of flexible service models that adapt to community needs.
  • Collaborate with clients, fostering an understanding of their needs and aspirations in order to explore options and develop actions that will best meet their needs.
  • Ensure Home Support Services staff have access to appropriate professional development programs and educational opportunities based on identified needs of the individual and service.
  • Ensure staff attend mandatory training monitoring attendance and implementing appropriate actions to ensure attendance.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of issues confronting older people and people with disabilities in a home and/or community setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of other relevant community support agencies and service providers.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and risk factors associated with the Home Support Services
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and manage roster development, implementation and maintain service records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and gain cooperation from Council staff, recipients, and residents from a diverse range of age groups, cultures, and backgrounds.
  • Ability to update and maintain administrative records, policies, and guidelines.
