Why this role matters
The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment, and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.
The purpose of the role
This role will aim to deliver Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Accommodation Service in line with national youth services model of care and their journey to Independence. You will lead an effective and high functioning team of youth workers to deliver quality client-centred supported crisis accommodation for young people aged 15-24 years of age who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Finally, you will coordinate and oversee all daily operations of the accommodation service.
This is a permanent, full-time position paid in accordance with the SCHADS award, level 6.

Your key responsibilities

  • Provide specialist expertise to workers to resolve case concerns
  • Ensuring service delivery data is recorded and appropriately maintained
  • Leading practice development for the team
  • Systems implemented for clear communication and handover between staff
  • Reflective practices are implemented for the team and contribute to improved outcomes for young people
  • Develop the capability of the team through coaching and training
  • Performance or conduct issues are addressed with assistance from Program Manager as required

The ideal candidate would bring

  • Degree qualification in Social Work, Welfare, Community Development or related field
  • Demonstrated high level sector knowledge and skills attained through previous work roles, service and study/development
  • Experience in leading and supervising staff
  • WA Working with Children’s Check
  • Drivers Licence
  • National Police Record Check is required (completed by TSA during recruitment)
  • First Aid Certificate (current or able to get within three months)
