Kepak St. Merryn in Merthyr Tydfil has combined beef and lamb processing and packing facilities. We offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers’ counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service; raised on open pastures, sourced from local farmers and hand-selected by our master butchers, we produce beef and lamb products with integrity and unmatched quality assurance.

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for supporting the CPM supervisor in driving consistent results of the retail room as measured by core metrics of safety, quality, people, delivery and cost. Responsible for all line KPI’s, ensuring that all tasks on the line of responsibility are carried out to health and safety and hygiene site standards, in accordance with Company SOP’s and customer specifications. Responsible for the supervision of the line activities and resources to produce safe, quality products to agreed customer specifications in clean environment.

KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrate and manage compliance to Company’s PPE requirements, equipment and knife safety requirements, hygiene and quality standards, department SOP’s and customer specifications.
  • Managing, identifying and/or reporting any accidents or near misses, undertaking/supporting investigations as instructed/necessary.
  • Maintain extensive understanding and knowledge of customer specifications, yields and margins, delivery and department costs.
  • Identify and proactively manage production issues, engaging and collaborating with relevant departments to mitigate risk.
  • Manage the startup of the line, completing relevant checks, ensuring the availability of raw material, staff resource, and machine readiness.
  • Manage the close down of the line, completing relevant checks and ensure walk-away standards are met.
  • Understanding and ensuring all specifications are followed, minimising rejections and maximising yield and margin on all products within the process.
  • Minimising all aspects of waste, including downtime, lost time, product waste.
  • Support Internal and External audits as required, managing, and implementing any corrective and preventative actions.
  • Support continuous improvement of production processes, making production more efficient, utilising data to make informed suggestions and decisions.
  • Maintain optimal GMP standards during production, ensuring all processes with the department are being followed.
