About the role
It is the purpose of this role to provide clinical, professional and operational leadership for the RBWH Orthotics services team across all service areas (RBWH, MNHHS, LCCH, STARS and SCHHS), day to day workload allocation and management for the orthotic teams (in close collaboration with direct reports to the role), advanced level orthotic clinical services, undertake strategic planning for the service, facilitate the program of clinical education for students and staff, and the program of research in the Orthotics teams.
About you
This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North values and the corresponding Lominger™ competencies:
- Provide advanced level, independent orthotic clinical services across the RBWH, MNHHS and other QLD HHS sites and services, exercising independent clinical judgement and expertise in the assessment, prescription, design, manufacture, fitting, and maintenance of orthoses in the management of a highly complex clinical caseload in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
- Use and apply evidence based practice to lead the development and review of clinical practice standards, in generating solutions to critical issues in a complex caseload, to contribute to formal research and to develop the knowledge base of the service.
- Apply high level communication skills to align the O&P team and influence the culture towards the O&P department vision, direction and ethical framework.
- Provide advice, guidance and support as the professional reference point for O&P clinicians and technical staff across the service.
- As a member of the O&P department leadership team, contribute to day-to-day operational and professional management, and resource allocation for the O&P service, participate in recruitment and selection activities, and perform general workforce management duties when required (e.g. rostering, workload allocation, workforce planning and leave management).
- Provide clinical leadership for the Orthotic teams and services: lead clinical governance systems, processes, and activities for the Orthotic service (consumer engagement, patient experience, policy and procedure development, safety and quality standards, clinical risk management, clinical practice standards, research and innovation, quality improvement and service redesign, incidents and complaints management, occupational health and safety)
