About The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Team Leader to join our Newcastle office. The Payroll team leader is accountable for coordinating the preparation and distribution of employee remuneration in an accurate and timely manner and team supervision of 3 payroll officers.
What You’ll Do
This role is focused on reviewing the payrolls for all of our wages employees who are employed under a number of enterprise agreements and ensuring that all of our payroll compliance obligations are met.
As well as providing a high standard of quality transactional payroll services, duties will include:
- Process and distribute payroll, ensuring the regular payment of full entitlements to all employees in an accurate and timely manner
- Conduct monthly reconciliations where required
- Process and set up new employees in the system
- Process leave forms and maintain accurate employee data
- Maintain an up to date understanding of all Awards, Enterprise Bargaining Agreements, and Acts pertaining to payroll and the Coal Industry
- Providing reporting and analysis to the broader business as required
- Calculating payroll tax, Workers comp, LSL
- Meeting the information needs of a range of stakeholders including all WHC employees, site management, auditors, head office staff and P&C.
What You’ll Bring
In addition to working in a high-volume processing environment, you have:
- Relevant experience as a Senior Payroll Officer / Payroll Team Leader within a large organisation
- Experience with enterprise agreements
- Strong attention to detail
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experienced in the use of Pulse software (desirable)
- Mining Industry knowledge would be advantageous
- Experience with stakeholder management
- Experience in process improvement and error proofing techniques
- Experience in reviewing pay runs.
- Experience in salaries (desirable)
