About the role
This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health’s values:

Clinical Practice

  • Provide advanced level, independent RE clinical services across the RBWH, MNHHS and other QLD HHS sites and services, exercising independent clinical judgement and expertise in the identification of technology requirements of people with highly complex equipment needs, including the assessment, prescription, design and manufacture of custom solutions when appropriate for clients in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
  • Use and apply evidence based practice to lead the development and review of clinical practice standards, in generating solutions to critical issues in a complex caseload, to contribute to formal research and to develop the knowledge base of the service.
  • Contribute to the RE professional body of knowledge and the development of clinical practice standards through publication in peer reviewed journals and/or delivery of research and/or evidence based practice project outcomes at the local and state-wide level and via professional forums/ clinical conferences.

Team Participation / Communication

  • Apply high level communication skills to align the RE team and RE department vision, direction and ethical framework.
  • Apply latest evidence and advanced-level judgement in advising, advocating for, and influencing professional and operational supervisors, relevant service managers and other relevant stakeholders regarding complex professional standards and clinical service development.

Leadership / Work Unit Management

  • As a member of the RE department leadership team, provide day-to-day operational and professional management, and resource allocation for the RE service (and act in a consultancy capacity for the O&P team as required), participate in recruitment and selection activities, and perform general workforce management duties (e.g. rostering, workload allocation, workforce planning and leave management).
  • Provide clinical leadership for the RE team and services: lead clinical governance systems, processes and activities for the RE service (consumer engagement, patient experience, policy and procedure development, safety and quality standards, clinical risk management, clinical practice standards, research and innovation, quality improvement and service redesign, incidents and complaints management, occupational health and safety)
