Homelessness Melbourne Metro is committed to providing person centred care, trauma informed practice and a strengths-based approach to improve the health, wellbeing and housing outcomes for people experiencing homelessness.
Service Profile
The Homelessness Melbourne Metro region is a large Homelessness provider in the inner city of Melbourne and provides a comprehensive range of residential & community services across six sites in St Kilda, Footscray, North Melbourne, West Melbourne & Kensington.
Community programs include the Crisis Contact Centre, Community Outreach Services for single adults, support for older people in public housing, rough sleeper & street sleeping initiatives, community participation and AOD support.
Residential services operate from Foley House in Footscray, the Open Door in North Melbourne and Flagstaff in West Melbourne.
Homelessness Melbourne Metro is supported by co-located services including the TSA Chaplaincy program, Bolton Clarke primary health service and NDIS support coordination.
Your Role
The Contact Centre in St Kilda offers a 24-hour Statewide crisis response to individuals and families of all ages. Drop in and face-to-face assistance is available every day of the year (including weekends and public holidays) with the service offering a 24-hour telephone response.
Whilst many are experiencing or are at risk of homelessness, clients of the service present with a broad range of support needs. Assistance may include, but is not limited to, financial assistance for emergency housing, food vouchers, material aid, information, advocacy and planning, as well as referral to specialist supports in relation to housing, family violence, health, mental health, alcohol and/or other drug use.
The SKCC Team Leader will lead a team of staff to deliver high quality, safe and effective responses to Victorian individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and seeking support through the 24/7 Crisis Contact Centre.
Reporting to the Program Manager for formal line management and supervision, this is a permanent full-time position, based in St Kilda, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 6.

About You

  • Degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or related field
  • Demonstrated high level of sector knowledge and skills attained through previous appointments, service and study/development
  • Relevant experience in supervising staff
  • Ability to coach, supervise and manage change
  • Resilience, flexibility and adaptability
  • Creative outcome focused attitude
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Advanced communication, written & organisational skills
  • Ability to ensure service delivery outcomes meet the required target
  • Relevant degree or above qualifications
  • Ability to manage crisis situations
  • Initiative to solve service delivery challenges
  • A Victorian Employee Working with Children Check
