Job Introduction The starting salary for this role is £60,033 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week.
The post is based in Chertsey but is expected to operate across different areas, with a satellite base in Epsom.
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated professionals to join our fantastic Forensic Social Care Team. This team is a specialist forensic social care mental health team who work closely alongside health in a collocated approach.

About the TeamThe Mental Health Forensic Team works with high risk cases and service users who have been detained under Section 3 of the Mental Health Act 1983 and have been in the criminal justice system. They undertake the role of social supervisor to those who have been detained, on behalf of the Ministry of Justice. The team works with service users with learning disabilities and works in partnership with Forensic Outreach Liaison Service (FOLS) and Forensic Intellectual and Neurodevelopmental Disorder Service (FIND).
There is an expectation that you will have a good working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, managing risk and experience in mental health, substance misuse and an understanding of the learning disabilities in the forensic area. The Forensic Social Care Team is a small specialist team who focus on care act requirements and work alongside health.
We offer agile working and as the Team Manager you will be able to work flexibly working within the office and at home. Surrey also offers excellent training opportunities for all staff and have a variety of management courses.

You’ll bring experience of the successful management of staff, including managing performance and development while successfully addressing conduct, attendance and performance capability issues. Skilled in managing budgets, you will bring substantial experience of managing the delivery and improvement of social care. A sound understanding of a strengths-based approach will also be vital.   • Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other relevant professional qualification.
  • Proven experience of successful management of staff, including managing performance and development while successfully addressing conduct, attendance, and performance capability issues.
  • Skill in managing budgets, with substantial experience of managing the delivery and improvement of social care.
  • Sound understanding of personalisation and strengths-based assessments.
  • Significant knowledge and/or experience of health and social care.
  • Evidence of understanding the mental health forensic agenda and an awareness of the learning disability area.
  • Evidence of the application and understanding of part 3 of the mental health act.
  • Evidence good understanding of risk management and MAPPA.
  • Direct experience of delivering adult social care services and a comprehensive and applied knowledge of adult social care legislation.

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area.
