Description:

Reports To: Salad Department PIC & Salad Department Manager
Position Summary:
The Salad Department Team Member is responsible for production; quality control; inventory control as delegated by the Salad Department Team Leader.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Produce and maintain fresh and packaged Salad inventory daily, incl. cut fruits & vegetables, dips, party trays, dressings, and packaged vegetables.
  • Maintain the salad bar by restocking as necessary, pulling unattractive ingredients and replacing with fresh, and attending to customer questions.
  • Produce and maintain juice inventory daily, closely following recipes and in a timely manner for retail and wholesale.
  • Maintain the highest level of quality control standards at all times, taking special care to follow handling standards for conventional and organic products.
  • Maintain exceptional cleanliness in all production and stock areas, including careful maintenance and cleaning of commercial juicing equipment.
  • Maintain exceptional cleanliness in all Salad production and stock areas.
  • Assist in the training of Salad team members.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance for scheduled shifts.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Answer department phone calls and take messages.
  • Assist customers in all Departments as needed.
  • Follow-up on Customer Requests as delegated.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • At least one year of prep cook, garde manager, or value-added produce experience.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service abilities.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Experience working as a contributing and effective team member.
  • Excellent work ethic that emphasizes efficiency and precision.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Working knowledge of scratch cooking.
  • Ability to train personnel.
  • Ability to take direction and follow instructions.
  • Ability to switch tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Safe food handling knowledge.

Special Considerations:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs regularly and 70 lbs occasionally.
  • Working conditions include a fast-paced retail environment that involves long intervals of standing, crouching, and reaching while moving product. Occasional exposure to cold temperatures while performing work in backstock coolers. Occasional exposure to weather conditions while receiving products.
  • Language Skills: basic.
  • Mathematical Skills: basic.
  • Reasoning Ability: basic.
  • Equipment used: commercial juicers (cold press, citrus); Ishida scales; price gun; knives; food processor.
  • Computer skills: none.

Hours per Week: Full-time (40 horus per week)
