Senior IT expert leading the engineering delivery, capacity management, coordination, cost management, and technology roadmap; is the de-facto IT contact for Digital’s Mobile team. The role provides technical expertise within Digital, including management of engineering competences needed to deliver & support business solutions efficiently. The role is accountable for success in their area.
Ko tō mahi | What you’ll do
- Technology owner of our mobile, our most frequently used digital channel. Collaborating with the HO Mobile the role ensures the Digital vision, strategy, and delivery roadmap are supported and successful. It aligns tools, practices, and standards with WNZL capabilities and manages the lifecycle of technology platforms to meet strategic business needs and customer value outcomes.
- The role anticipates critical drivers within the technology portfolio for optimal outcomes and supports squads in adhering to WNZL’s architecture and engineering governance.
- Engaging stakeholders and keeping them informed about the technology delivery roadmap is crucial. The role collaborates with stakeholders across Westpac Group, Technology, Institutional and Business Banking, Consumer Banking and Wealth, external vendors, and customers. It develops pathways to make interacting with Digital and its technology stack easy for all stakeholders, prioritizing continuous improvement and feedback.
- The role acts as the escalation point for resolving technical complexities and dependencies, ensuring the technology portfolio is set up effectively for tracking progress. It supports squads in adhering to WNZL’s governance processes. Ensuring sibling teams commit to and complete work required to insulate the mobile teams from heavy and ongoing replatforming in our capability layer.
- This role is responsible for ensuring technology work is appropriately resourced and that: squads are stable with a clear ‘Mission’ that provides clarity of what problems they are equip to solve; work flows to squads where there is alignment to their mission; squads take ownership for the work from delivery through to run and we form new squads only where ongoing demand dictates we need a long term response.

Outcomes/Deliverables
- Technology ownership of various critical and committed outcomes.
- Forging of effective relationships across multiple high-intensity business units including Digital, IBB, CBW and Core Technology.
- Strategic planning for the future of our authenticated customer facing stack.
- Effective budget and cost management.
- The role oversees incidents, business continuity, and disaster recovery, ensuring technical debt and associated impacts are visible to the broader Digital leadership.
- Ownership of technology risk across the domain, ensuring adherence to Risk and Compliance Frameworks and promoting a culture of technology risk awareness. - 8+ years as an engineer in either pure mobile or full-stack roles.
- Proven ability to deliver outcomes in a complex environment.
- Proven history of cost management.

- Experience managing complex financial arrangements involving multiple budget owners and finance teams.
