Description:

About us
At Azets people lie at the heart of what we do. Collaboration and sharing empowers us all to achieve our purpose of making our colleagues, clients and communities lives better every day. With the everchanging economic landscape and advances in technology, there has never been a more exciting time to start a career in accountancy.
As an Azets Trainee, you will be actively supported throughout your Azets career and will learn from the vast expertise held by your colleagues. Whether you’re a school or college leaver, a graduate ready to make your mark, or someone seeking a new challenge, Azets is the perfect launchpad for your journey.
We are committed to offering development opportunities to all of our staff, from early stage Trainees through to Senior Partners. As a trainee, you will get the opportunity to pursue a professional qualification specific to the business area you will be working in. We believe in nurturing your potential and setting you on the path to success.
The role
The Technical Accounting and Valuations Team (TAVT) is a relatively new service line compared to most. Our objective is to provide solutions to clients on tricky accounting questions. We see the more unusual areas of accounting that most do not see every day. For example, we support clients with the complex accounting that arises when businesses are purchased. We also support with areas such as accounting standard conversions, accounting valuations (e.g. share schemes and intangible assets) and also the accounting requirements for when a company wants to be admitted onto a stock exchange.
Your initial training will focus on accounting, particularly understanding the basics of preparing a set of financial statements. You will likely begin your training in the Accounts and Business Advisory Services (ABAS) team in order to obtain this experience. Over time you would then start to receive technical accounting training, to build on your knowledge. It is important that the basics are understood before diving into the deep end in technical accounting.
The nationwide team have expanded over the last few years with hubs now in Yorkshire, Hertford, Birmingham and Maidstone. Despite the geographic distances, the team is very close-knit offering an extremely supportive and collaborative environment. Because the work that we do is extremely varied, members of the team typically have different levels of experience in each area. For this reason, hierarchy is often left at the door and the full team are encouraged to contribute ideas and knowledge-share.
A lot of businesses do not have specialist technical expertise in-house and therefore this role is an opportunity to really make a difference and help our clients. No two days are the same in the TAVT team and this really provides a varied and exciting role. If you are an analytical thinker, a problem-solver and also love a challenge, then this role could certainly be for you!”

We offer a range of different qualification pathways at Azets which are determined by the role you are applying for. The qualification that will be undertaken for this position will be the ACA.
