TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

You have knowledge of:

  • Current and emerging technologies; Operating Systems for servers and desktops; Microsoft Office products and all related applications Virtual Private Network hardware and software, firewalls, applications; network communication protocols
  • Network architecture and topology, physical and virtual servers, backup software, database, and specialized test and monitoring software to handle complex technological problems
  • Networking equipment such as routers, firewalls, switches using NX-OS, FXOS and CAT-OS for configuration and maintenance
  • Computer concepts, systems development methods and techniques, including technical models, protocols and related IEEE standards; application and network failover redundancy principles
  • Different physical interfaces related to network connectivity such as Fiber, Twinax, Copper and other emerging cabling and connector technologies.
  • End user licensing agreements in order to fulfill service obligations

ANALYTICAL AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS

  • you can identify root cause, determine and resolve technical malfunctions; and recommend solutions such as application changes and reconfiguration of hardware/software
  • you can troubleshoot connectivity issues using traffic flow, packet inspection and event logging techniques
  • you can utilize scripting tools and languages to design programs to update and gather information on a large amount of systems

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

You can:

  • present to senior management staff, interact with end users and the vendor community
  • prepare discussion papers, briefing notes and recommendations on acquisition of hardware, software, network upgrades and development of new network features/services
  • write technical documentation for application and network procedures and protocols (e.g. backup and disaster recovery procedures, deployments, installation) and operating procedures/instructions;
  • explain technical solutions to non-technical ministry and senior personnel
  • you have interpersonal skills to work both within a team environment and also with minimal supervision

PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS

  • you have knowledge of project management methodologies and techniques to develop, design, and implement project plans, budgets, and human resources
  • you can work effectively under pressure, organize work and meet deadlines
  • you can provide guidance and support to section staff and to co-ordinate constant changing priorities with colleagues

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • provide hands-on, day-to-day, operational support to all Information Technology Services operational activities work with other groups to complete operational tasks
  • provide technical problem-solving expertise (Tier 1 & 2 & 3) to business operations and colleagues
  • administer and manage security and encryption programs, policies, and procedures in liaison with partners, vendors, users, and clients.
  • provide technical support to Corporate Information Technology initiatives
  • review operational inefficiencies, systemic problems, researches and recommend new technology solutions
  • design, install, support and troubleshoot complex technologies such as: Ethernet switches and router equipment, remote access (SSL & IPSec, VPN), WAN compression devices, site to site VPN connections, firewalls, SDWAN, and emergent Cloud Based network methodologies
  • develop technology related policies, guidelines, and operational procedures
