The day to day:

  • Shape our technical direction by working closely with Product, Engineering, and both internal and external partners to explore new ideas and technologies.
  • Design, validate, and communicate macro-architectures, APIs, and scalable systems for engineering teams to reference and develop toward.
  • Research and evaluate technologies; develop recommendations for adoption or non-adoption of those technologies.
  • Encourage and drive the implementation of best engineering practices, while acting as a strong technical mentor, coach, and advocate for other members of your team.

Your expertise and passion:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Strong experience in architecting and building cloud agnostic, high performance and scalable platforms with deep understanding of public cloud infrastructure such as Google, AWS and Azure.
  • Experience with WordPress, developing plugins, and integrating 3rd party applications
  • Experience leading teams in crafting and writing high quality, distributed, maintainable, deployable, testable, and usable software applications (in any language) using Agile methodologies.
  • History of problem solving and taking ownership of technical solutions that must scale out to meet high demand You are willing to solve hard problems, work through ambiguity, and deliver incremental solutions.
  • Understanding of prioritization and when and how to make optimal tradeoffs in areas such as correctness, robustness, reliability, and performance to achieve the intended impact across all stages of the product development lifecycle.
  • Experience defining and championing best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Prior experience architecting and building modern CD/CI infrastructure which works all the time for several hundred developers working on multitude of interconnected software deployment pipelines.
  • Outstanding capacity to connect with others through strong written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated ability in:

  • Data modeling, crafting REST APIs, GraphQL, and microservices development
  • Cloud technologies and services - e.g. GCP, AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Cloudflare
  • Web development and UI frameworks - e.g. Angular, React, Django, Flask, Ruby on Rails,
  • Git/Github version control, and CI/CD for automated testing and deployment
  • Asynchronous messaging & streaming technologies - e.g. Google Pub/Sub, Kafka, SQS
