Position: Technical Assistant- Curatorial
Department: Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Community Services- Arts and Museums
Hourly Range: $22.04-$25.51
Classification: Temporary
Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible
JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Technical Assistant- Curatorial provides oversight for exhibitions and special programs at the Lancaster Museum of Art and History. The Technical Assistant- Curatorial will be responsible for the development of exhibitions, including didactic texts, press releases, working with artists, and conducting studio visits; program facilitation, special projects, as assigned; and other curatorial initiatives. This role requires strong writing skills and writing samples will be required when applying.

Responsibilities:
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Work closely with MOAH’s curatorial staff to develop and implement the museums’ exhibition programs.
- Research and create original didactic wall texts, including exhibition descriptions and curatorial statements.
- Liaise with artists to develop exhibition tests that accurately represent their work to the public.
- Conduct professional and concise studio visits with artists.
- Interface with artists and other community stakeholders to facilitate innovative public programs.
- Work closely with MOAH’s marketing team to develop press releases.
- Develop press copy and other marketing collaterals, as needed.
- Evaluate the museum’s current roster of programs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
