We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technical Director to lead the development and execution of our core products technology strategy. This role requires a deep understanding of modern technologies, the ability to dive into technical details, and strong engineering management capabilities. The ideal candidate will provide both strategic oversight and hands-on guidance, ensuring that our engineering teams deliver innovative, scalable, and high-performance solutions.

Responsibilities.

  • Technology Leadership & Detail Orientation: Lead the creation and execution of comprehensive technology and innovation roadmaps while maintaining a deep, hands-on understanding of the technologies and needs driving our core products. The Technical Director should be comfortable delving into architecture, code reviews, and technical problem-solving as needed.
  • Engineering Management: Manage engineering teams, ensuring they have the resources, tools, and processes needed to succeed. Provide clear direction on engineering best practices while staying deeply involved in day-to-day technical decisions to maintain the highest level of quality and performance.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Management, Design, Data Engineers, SRE and Security Engineers and other stakeholders to translate product vision into actionable technical requirements. Ensure alignment between product strategy and technical execution by actively participating in technical discussions and decision-making.
  • Hands-on Technical Oversight: Be deeply involved in technology stack decisions, system architecture design, and critical technical implementations. The Technical Director must be able to roll up their sleeves and engage with the engineering team to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Risk & Performance Management: Identify potential technical risks and proactively address them. Implement robust monitoring and quality assurance practices, ensuring technical issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.
  • Mentorship & Development: Serve as a technical mentor, helping team members grow their skills and technical acumen. Foster a collaborative, innovative engineering culture that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Scalability & Optimization: Focus on building scalable, robust solutions that meet both current and future business needs. Ensure that systems and applications are optimized for performance and maintainability.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a technical liaison between engineering teams and key stakeholders. Provide clear, detailed updates on project status, technical challenges, and overall system health.
  • Multi-team Coordination: Oversee and coordinate the work of multiple development teams, ensuring seamless collaboration, work prioritization and efficient task allocation, and alignment with project milestones.

Qualifications.

  • Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role for a modern SaaS company, ideally as a Technical Director, Engineering Director, or similar.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in software development, system architecture fundamentals, and technical problem-solving.
  • Strong experience in domain-driven development (DDD) and solid design paradigms, with a deep understanding of best practices in system architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to dive into technical details and provide direct support to engineers when necessary.
  • Experience scaling engineering teams while maintaining high technical standards.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of product development processes, agile methodologies, and how to align technical goals with business objectives.
  • Proven record of leading the construction of complex software solutions and coordinating the work of multiple development teams, similar to a Technical Program Manager (TPM) role.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Track record of delivering technically complex projects that meet business objectives.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience designing and delivering API platforms is an asset.
  • Experience working in a multi-product portfolio company, managing the technical requirements of diverse product lines.
