Description:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary degree in Media Arts or a related field with a minimum of four (4) years of experience providing technical event support
  • Extensive experience providing high quality end user support and customer service
  • Experienced problem-solver with the ability to adapt analytical techniques and develop new information on various situations and problems
  • Knowledge of broadcast and streaming systems along with production software (OBS, NLE’s) and equipment is essential; must be versed in AV broadcast switchers, camera systems, audio, and microphone comprehension
  • Experience with both Microsoft Windows and Macintosh based operating systems and their integration with Audio/Visual or digital presentation technologies
  • Applied knowledge of digital video and digital imaging computer applications, such as Adobe Photoshop, Keynote and PowerPoint
  • Advanced experience with current multimedia classroom technologies
  • Experience supporting technologies for large lecture halls or presentation venues
  • Experience with troubleshooting both analog and digital audio/visual and photographic equipment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current digital imaging practices and scanning technologies
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment for students, staff, and faculty
  • Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to juggle competing demands
  • Good interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be willing and able to work evening and weekend shifts, as required
    Compensation: OPSEU Unit I, Appendix A, Grade A5; $66,925.74 to $87,958.44 per annum
    Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, for a total of 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

Supervision, Coaching & Mentorship

  • Lead technical production services for all OCAD U events and exhibitions while working with multiple offices, committees and working groups to coordinate annual recurring events on campus, including but not limited to, Orientation Days & Big Welcome, Nuit Blanche, President’s Town-hall, Festival of The Body, Ontario University Fair, Convocation and the annual Graduate Exhibition
  • Supervise Technical Event Production Services staff to carry out technical support, setup, and installation requests, coordinate and schedule work, develop training materials and document services and support, post communications, attend meetings, and bring matters requiring escalation to the Manager, Strategic Planning & Technology Deployment
  • Promote a culture of excellence by setting an example, encouraging, coaching and mentoring TEPS staff with a focus on the skills needed to provide high quality event support services and customer service, including technical skill, empathy, tolerance, patience and a strong service orientation

General / Event Support

  • Act as the primary contact within the TEPS team for producing and maintaining instructional content, and information about TEPS Services, including information about TEPS services in the IT Services Support Portal and Website
  • Prepare and maintain Venue Package ensuring that pricing models and service offerings are kept up to date
  • Procure, manage, and maintain a fleet of event production equipment and resources to service the University and work with departments to procure specific project and exhibition equipment to use for onsite and offsite events
  • Coordinate, set-up and provide installation services for on/off campus exhibitions and projects, while working with clients to develop a plan for setup, mounting or installation of technical equipment for large scale events or individual artist projects and exhibitions
  • Liaise and maintain vendor relationships with external AV event production partners to outsource projects beyond the scope of in-house support
  • Provide service to the Onsite Gallery for all of its exhibitions and events and work with the Director and Curator to coordinate physical installations and consult on the technical aspects for ongoing exhibitions at the Onsite Gallery
  • Set up and maintain streaming and broadcast service capabilities to facilitate and support all OCAD U’s online events, providing clients the ability to stream any physical or Online Live meetings and events directly to personal web space in the cloud including OCAD U Live, Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook, Twitch or directly embedded onto own webpage
  • Provide high level virtual online meeting and event support services
  • Maintain currency and knowledge of all major video conferencing platforms (Teams, Zoom, etc.) and provide the tools and coordination to produce professional online meeting and event experiences for the OCAD U community
  • Create and participate in working groups to coordinate annual exhibition and event offerings in collaboration with Faculty Offices and work with program leads and event coordinators to address technical requirements of events, exhibitions, symposiums, and conferences such as Festival of the Body, INTM show, CADN Conference, Art Creates Change, Faculty of Design Speaker Series etc.
  • Invoice internal and external clients for AV support costs as well as rentals and staffing expenses ensuring adherence to thorough tracking and timekeeping
  • Act as the primary contact within the TEPS team for producing and maintaining instructional content, and information about TEPS Services, including information about TEPS services in the IT Services Support Portal and Website
  • Prepare and maintain Venue Package ensuring that pricing models and service offerings are kept up to date.
  • Set up and operate equipment for university-sponsored events, including curricular, external, OCAD U promotional, and conferences, both local and international
  • Research, select and purchase AV, computer, and digital equipment in consultation with the Manager, Strategic Planning & Technology Deployment
  • Assess need for repairs and/or replacement of AV and digital equipment, and perform routine maintenance and repairs as required
  • Provide equipment circulation services including AV, computer, and digital equipment to authorized University personnel using the Web Checkout circulation system
  • Investigate and provide recommendations for effective and efficient provision of event and meeting support to OCAD U students, faculty, academic staff, administrative staff, and managers
  • Provide input to the Audio Visual team to improve and broaden the scope and utilization of classroom and meeting room technology throughout the campus, including support for online and hybrid modes of curriculum delivery, with a focus on supporting end-users and improving their experience
  • Maintain currency in relevant technologies, including multimedia classroom technology, livestreaming technology, audio/visual, online collaboration, video conferencing, assistive technologies, operating systems, and computer hardware and knowledge of major video conferencing platforms (e.g. Teams, Zoom, etc.)
  • Support change throughout the IT landscape; advocate, promote and support rollouts and upgrades to new and existing audio/visual services
  • Support Manager, Strategic Planning & Technology Deployment in other related duties that contribute to the successful operation of IT Services
