Wartsila Performance Services is looking for an engine Technical Expert in the Technical Management team within the PBL delivery organization.
The Technical Management team has a central role in investigating quality issues on engine products and implementing corrective actions in close cooperation with Technical Services. Technical management has the technical responsibility of the engines in three major agreements with Carnival Corporation, Royan Caribbean Group, and Virgin Voyages.
The main roles of Technical Management are to maintain product quality and maximize engine availability to enable the flawless operation of our customer’s business. We also are in the lead on developing and implementing solutions to help customers meet their targets within decarbonization strategies. We ensure safe operation for customers at the same time maximizing business profitability for Wartsila.
As an ideal candidate, you are an experienced professional in the field, with a broad knowledge of engines and systems. You have a continuous improvement mindset and are not afraid of challenges. You get things done and are comfortable dealing with customers in challenging environments.
The preferred location for the position is in Vaasa, Finland but other locations such as Helsinki, Turku ( Finland ); Southampton ( UK ); Trieste ( Italy ) and Ft Lauderdale ( USA ) are possible locations.

Responsibilities:

AS A TECHNICAL EXPERT, YOUR WORK WILL FOCUS ON THESE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating and documenting RCAs for relevant unplanned events.
  • Conducting technical audits according to the agreed scope on selected ships and providing high-quality technical recommendations, while also considering the financial aspects of the contract.
  • Working on the frontline, directly engaging with customers and taking responsibility for your assigned ships and product types.
  • Acting as the chairman of the technical forum, where the customer is one of the stakeholders.
  • Following up on non-conformity cost statistics and initiating product improvement cases when component quality does not meet expectations.
  • Keeping the product-specific issue list updated and collaborating with Technical Services teams to enhance product quality.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, WE EXPECT YOU TO HAVE:
