Technical GIS Support Engineer
Telecom Industry Experience preferred
Location (UK-Remote)
The Technical GIS Support Engineer will play a crucial role in maintaining, developing, and optimizing GIS systems within the Network Build/Migration team at RMSI. This role involves managing data pipelines, automation workflows, and system integration to support large-scale real-time data processing from thousands of network devices. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with GIS technologies, scripting for automation, and database management. A key responsibility is to develop and enhance GIS-based software applications, ensuring high performance, scalability, and seamless system integrations. The role also requires collaborating with analytics teams, improving data flow efficiencies, and troubleshooting complex GIS issues.
Success in this position requires a strong technical foundation, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to optimizing GIS workflows and data management processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize GIS systems to support network infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and automate data pipelines to process streaming data efficiently.
  • Support GIS migration projects, ensuring seamless transition and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with the data analytics team to automate geospatial analysis.
  • Develop high-quality and reliable code for GIS applications and data processing.
  • Perform troubleshooting, system integration, and performance optimization.
  • Analyze system performance, identifying areas for improvement and scalability.
  • Ensure compliance with industry best practices in GIS data management.
  • Experience in GIS development and system maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience with data pipelines and automation for real-time data processing.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in GIS applications.
  • Ability to develop scalable and efficient GIS solutions
  • Knowledge of database management and geospatial data structures.
  • Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and best coding practices.
  • Analytical and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail with a problem-solving approach.
  • Collaborative and effective in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Adaptable to evolving GIS technologies and data challenges.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, GIS, or related field
  • Certifications in GIS software, database management, or programming are a plus.
  • Experience in network infrastructure, telecommunications, or geospatial analytics is advantageous.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: £36,000.00-£55,000.00 per year

  • Monday to Friday
