Description:

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 4 Therapy Assistant to join our Medicine Therapy team.
As a therapy assistant you will work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to ensure a high quality, patient centered approach. The role involves working closely with patients to optimise their ability to perform activities of daily living and to maximise independence, ensuring a safe transition from hospital to the community. The role will also include non-clinical administrative tasks which will include record keeping, data collection, admin tasks and equipment maintenance.

The position can be physically demanding and requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate some understanding of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a therapy, hospital, or care environment, however. No professional qualifications are required, but previous experience as a Therapy Assistant and basic English, Mathematics, computer, and email skills are required for the role.

  • The post holder will provide therapy interventions to patients as delegated to them by a qualified therapist.
  • The post holder shows initiative, motivation and excellent organisational ability working closely with therapy staff to develop administrative support and systems for the therapy team
  • The post-holder is flexible in their approach to work and provides cover for other Therapy assistants and instructors across the service in periods of leave or absence
  • The post-holder will be expected, after appropriate training, to perform manual handling tasks
  • They will be required to demonstrate time management & prioritisation skills
  • They will be required to work with their team on service development and quality assurance projects
  • To participate in 7-day services rota where appropriate.
  • To participate in yearly rotations between, Care of the elderly, Respiratory, Clinical Pharmacology and split post between medicine and surgery.
