Description:

Your education and experiences will have prepared you to participate in and contribute to the following:
- Lead the integration of RWI data with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) tools and data.
- Work to discover and establish fluid approaches to ingestion of input data, integration of advanced tools, as well as technical and market positioning and channels for output data products.
- Research data sources and ingestion, tooling and integration of tooling, as well as channels and paths to market for output data.
- Find ways to increase efficiency and expand use of high-value GIS data, allowing us to deliver more value to customers and plot pathways to new markets.
- Integrating a number of open and closed GIS data sets into our modelling, visualization, and analysis.
- Researching data sources and data quality metrics, as well as implementation of the metrics and cataloguing of data sources to compile a qualified inventory of readily accessible open and for-fee GIS data, particularly open data.
- Survey available and relevant sources of data in the context of current and projected work and evaluate approaches for one or more data quality metrics and apply these to potential data sources.
- Establish format and approach for curated catalogue; make the catalogue accessible to the team and train/prepare the team to use the catalogue.
- Examine common and prevalent standards for GIS data and choose formats for interchange between RWI data and GIS data.
- Design and develop tools for automated 2-way data conversion to RWI formats from GIS and the inverse.
- Determine and capture applicable GIS functions and functionality that add value for RWI.
- Working on a roadmap of potential pathways and decision criteria to bring RWI data and RWI interactive data to market.
- Experience with web presentations of GIS data, including leaftlet and surrounding data navigation and charting considered an asset.
- Aligning research activities with available resource budget.
- Providing technical mentorship where needed and conducting regular check-ins with team members on the project to ensure a solid support system.
- Developing project design and delivery framework, timelines and tracking milestones and deadlines.
- Regular check-ins with the project team.
- Bringing in projects at or under budget through efficient project scoping, scheduling and resourcing while ensuring re-usability/versatility of models.
- Guiding GIS efforts, and providing direct technical help with GIS where needed to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Taking data sets and processing them into meaningful, useful, and relevant information
- Conduct research and develop science-based models and translate research into validated and verified models.
- Prepare, deliver, and communicate project results and insights to inform critical policies and planning for customers.
- Provide education and promote public awareness through company media, such as project use cases, LinkedIn posts, etc.
- Contribute to team building and company education initiatives.
Who You Are:
- You have completed your education in a quantitative or engineering discipline, such as software engineering, computer science, mathematics or engineering. Advanced education with a focus on GIS systems is an asset.
- You have experience with leading projects for teams with diverse backgrounds (computer science, engineering, social science, science, mathematics, data science).
- You are a big-picture thinker who thrives in an ambiguous and collaborative environment.
- You provide thoughtful and clear feedback to project members and remain curious and humble while brainstorming new ideas.
