Description:
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Relevant third-level qualification in food science or a related field.
- Experience in BRCGS audits.
- Level 3 Food Safety qualification.
- Level 3 HACCP qualification.
- Internal auditing qualification.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a senior quality or technical manager role within the food industry.
- Experience working with UK and ROI retailers.
- Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple initiatives.
- Excellent people management and time management skills.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Technical Manager to join a leading food manufacturing company in Newry. This role is key to ensuring that all manufacturing sites produce safe, legal, and high-quality food products, while maintaining customer satisfaction and compliance with industry standards.
As the Technical Manager, you will work closely with various departments including Manufacturing, NPD, Compliance and Sustainability, Logistics, Procurement, and Sales Orders to provide a comprehensive service to both internal and external customers. You will report directly to the Head of Technical and Compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage retailer and BRCGS audits, participate in customer and third-party audits, and address non-conformances through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Perform gap analysis for industry, customer, and legislation requirements, ensuring ongoing compliance.
- Stay informed on potential food safety and legality concerns, proactively addressing them.
- Lead and manage the on-site Quality functions, chairing monthly technical meetings.
- Lead the implementation of quality, food safety, and compliance improvement projects, including risk assessment generation, review, and implementation.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other departments, increasing awareness of technical issues across the business.
- Participate in the internal audit program, conducting audits and implementing necessary updates.
- Develop, implement, and maintain food safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to food safety protocols and hygiene standards.
- Coordinate and manage the HACCP team and activities.
- Ensure that new products and processes are safely, legally, and compliantly introduced to the site and delivered on time.
- Support the NPD team in successful new product and process development.
- Identify and implement Best Practices to drive business improvements.
- Define and report on relevant department KPIs and objectives.
