Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive technical manager to join our dynamic technical operations team, which strives to provide a sector leading technical support for FSE and the wider University. With a commitment to customer service excellence and a passion for science and engineering, technical managers will provide an agile technical support service to staff and students to support teaching, research and professional services. FSE’s research and teaching quality is recognized globally; this is an exciting opportunity to join us in Manchester and contribute to the provision of a sector leading technical service.
- Based mainly in the MECD workshop, you will lead and manage a team of technical staff to provide a high-quality manufacturing service to users across FSE. Duties include the planning and allocation of incoming work requests to meet agreed deadlines, providing advice and guidance to workshop users on manufacturing processes, and ensuring high quality standards.
- You will work closely with other team mangers and technical specialists in the workshops group, particularly in other mechanical workshops, and will foster effective collaboration to provide a complete workshop service.
- Promoting a positive health and safety culture is an important part of the role. You will have responsibility for health safety and welfare in the workshop, including the production of risk assessments, safe work processes, and identifying safety training requirements.
- You will grow the capabilities of the MECD workshop through the development and training of your team, maintaining workshop equipment and identifying areas for enhancement.
