Technical Operations Director

The Director of Technical Operations centralizes the management, design and maintenance of DHL Panama Aviation organization’s technical processes and services. The role ensures that the organization is functioning with the best business technical operational processes in place. Responsible for the analysis of current operations, implementing best practices, setting objectives for business optimization, properly allocating budgets, and overseeing airline Technical Personnel (Maintenance, Engineering, Maintenance Planning, Maintenance Control, Quality Control, Technical Training, Technical Records, Technical Publications, Technical Purchasing, Tooling & Warehouse).

Key tasks:

• Ensure the safe and timely Aircraft Dispatch by means of the different Maintenance Dispatch Performance (MDP) metrics while following the documented policies and procedures
• Identify business needs to manage Technical Operations controlling costs and times to ensure proper implementation
• Lead and implement Technical Projects (i.e.: Parts & Aircraft Fleet Campaigns, Digitalization of procedures)
• Measure team results through employee satisfaction surveys, aircraft availability on time, and established Technical Operations training program
• Continuous improvement of processes focused on efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure digitalization and standardization of fleet management processes and internal communication channels
• Measures aircraft performance in order to: identify opportunities for business improvement, develop preventive and corrective measures, and establish benchmarks in relation to the industry
• Represents DHL Aviation Panama to local and international authorities, Union and industry organizations in all matters related to Technical Operations
• Minimum of 10 years in the industry with at least 5 years of senior level management roles in Technical Operations for Large Aircraft ( >12,500 Lbs)
• Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineering or similar
• MBA or Master´s in relevant field (preferred)
• Direct Management of team(s) of Technical/Maintenance Professionals
• Ability to work a variety of shifts within a 24 hour operation
• Ability to speak Spanish and English fluently
• Cross-cultural competency, strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to influence change at all levels of the organization informal and formal networks to build the commitment of senior stakeholders to outcomes, which will have a major and lasting impact for DP DHL.
