Technical Project Manager / Engineer
Remote some travel to client sites
Our client has consistently outpaced expectations in terms of its growth and capabilities. They are an engineering firm that serves medium to large organizations in the regulated industry throughout North America and internationally in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, medical devices, nutraceuticals, cosmetics, food and beverage, and radiopharmaceuticals.
Role and Responsibilities:

The Technical Project Manager acts as the key client contact for all technical matters and coordinates internal responses with the appropriate subject matter experts. The Technical Project Manager leads, tracks, follows up and monitors project timelines, scope and budget to ensure alignment with project deliverables, using appropriate project management tools such as MS Project, action logs, dashboards and others as required. Close collaboration is required across many workstreams, including Quality, Analytical, Engineering, Logistics/Supply Chain, Validation, Regulatory and Leadership. Tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Organizes and provides direction and support to project staff according to project requirements
  • Provides regular status updates to clients and on projects, both technical and financial
  • Reviews and makes recommendations on design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related standards and regulations
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems
  • Manages integration of technical activities and products
  • Suggests ways to improve project execution
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases
  • Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget, prepares interim and completion project reports
  • Prepares and submits project proposals, as well as following up with client to obtain purchase order
  • Approves timesheets for assigned project staff
  • Conducts evaluations and provides feedback for assigned project staff
  • Actively seeks new project work with client
  • Supervises staff and provides day to day direction for assigned project teams
  • Support training of new staff on principles and applications
  • Support development of internal expertise in an assigned technical area

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Science or Engineering
  • 6+ years of related industry experience
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical and engineering principles and practices
  • Strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of regulations (from Health Canada – cGMPs and from FDA – GMPs) applying to operations in the regulated industries
  • Proficient with computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project, and AutoCAD
  • Team player and able to work independently with little or no supervision
  • P.Eng licensed applicants preferred
  • PMP preferred but not necessary
