Description:

As a Technical Proposal Director will be responsible for leading the preparation and submission of technical proposals for construction projects, ensuring that they are technically sound, competitive, and aligned with the company’s business objectives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead the preparation, development, and submission of technical proposals for construction projects.
  • Oversee the proposal process, from initial client inquiry to final submission, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather technical inputs, cost estimates, and other necessary information for proposals.
  • Ensure that all technical aspects of proposals are accurate, feasible, and aligned with project requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the proposal team, including reviewing and approving technical content.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and technologies to incorporate into proposals.
  • Work closely with business development teams to identify and pursue new opportunities.
  • Develop strategies for competitive positioning of proposals, including pricing and value propositions.
  • Analyze client needs and market conditions to tailor proposals that address specific project requirements and challenges.
  • Manage and mentor a team of proposal coordinators, engineers, and other technical staff involved in the proposal process.
  • Identify and assess technical risks associated with proposals, and develop mitigation strategies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required; an advanced degree (e.g., MBA) is often preferred.
  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in construction, engineering, or a related field, with significant experience in proposal management and technical roles.
  • Deep knowledge of construction methodologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, excellent technical writing and communication abilities, and a solid understanding of cost estimation and pricing strategies.
