Education:

  • Community College Diploma OR Undergraduate Degree in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering or a related fiel

Experience:

  • 1 year of work experience supporting research in a related technical field
  • Experience with neuroimaging techniques, particularly DTI, is preferre

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • Proficiency in programming and data analysis (e.g., MATLAB, Python, or R) is an asset
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to manage longitudinal participant relationships
  • Familiarity with ethical considerations and protocols for working with pregnant women and children
  • Familiarity with experimental design and analysis
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Ability to follow processes with high attention to detail
  • Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
  • Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
  • Ability to collect and analyze data in an objective manner
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and resolve issues
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goal

Responsibilities:

The Technical/Research Support 1 will be responsible for participant recruitment and coordination; recruiting and consenting pregnant women and their families for longitudinal participation, scheduling MRI sessions for mothers during pregnancy and follow-up scans for infants and toddlers, and maintaining effective communication with participants to ensure engagement throughout the study. The incumbent will support data collection and MRI scanning; coordinating and assisting in the acquisition of MRI data for pregnant women, infants, and toddlers, supporting the MRI team in ensuring participant safety and comfort during scanning sessions, and documenting and organizing imaging protocols and session notes. This role additionally involves data processing and analysis of MRI data with a focus on DTI metrics, collaboration with the research team to extract and interpret structural and connectivity measures, and the development and maintainance of pipelines for data management and quality assurance. The Technical/Research Support I will engage in interdisciplinary collaboration; working closely with clinicians, imaging specialists, and developmental psychologists to integrate findings, and participating in regular team meetings to discuss project progress and troubleshooting. The incumbent will document and disseminate research, maintain accurate and detailed records of study protocols, data, and analysis workflows, and contribute to the preparation of research manuscripts, presentations, and grant applications.
