Job Title: Technical Specialist Support Services
Department: Information Technology Services
Reports To: Service Desk Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

Linfield University is seeking a Technical Specialist Support Services to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues for both Mac and PC platforms. This role requires a keen problem-solver with intermediate to advanced technical skills to tackle complex issues within our networked computing environment. As a Technical Specialist, you will provide support via phone, email, and in-person, document solutions, and contribute to enhancing the efficiency of our ITS department.

EDUCATION:

  • Associates degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Bachelors degree in Computing or Information Technology preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two years in hardware and software technical support.
  • Strong customer service skills and a commitment to collaborative teamwork within the department.
  • Proficiency in software such as Microsoft and Mac OS, Microsoft Office, Adobe products, and the ability to quickly learn new applications and upgrades.
  • Experience in troubleshooting basic network issues.
  • Ability to analyze user needs and translate them into effective solutions.
  • Competency in converting technical instructions into user-friendly guidance during training sessions.
  • Experience with imaging and deploying operating systems in an enterprise environment is a plus.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technology Installation & Maintenance: Install and maintain technology in McMinnville Campus classrooms and conference rooms, offering support and instruction to end users.
  • Problem Resolution: Take charge of resolving service calls, including the timely documentation of problem symptoms and status updates.
  • Technical Support: Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues on Mac and PC for faculty, staff, and student labs.
  • Walk-In Support: Maintain regular walk-in/call-in support hours for the Linfield community, providing on-the-spot technology assistance.
  • Training & Guidance: Offer advanced training, guidance, and advice on hardware and software to users.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned, adhering to all University policies and procedures.
