Description:

The Technical Superintendent Engineer in the marine sector is responsible for overseeing the technical management and maintenance of marine vessels or offshore installations. This role ensures that all marine equipment and systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with maritime regulations. The Technical Superintendent Engineer will coordinate technical projects, manage engineering teams, and serve as the technical expert for vessel maintenance and operational performance.

Job Description:

  • Supervise the technical operations and maintenance activities of assigned vessels or offshore installations.
  • Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, classification society rules, and company policies.
  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Manage technical projects related to vessel upgrades, repairs, and installations.
  • Coordinate with shipyards, contractors, and internal teams to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution.
  • Monitor project progress and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Lead and mentor the onboard technical staff, including engineers and technicians.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to enhance team performance and skills.
  • Offer technical expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Stay current with advancements in marine technology and best practices to improve vessel performance.
  • Ensure all operations adhere to safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure safe operating conditions.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, technical issues, and project progress.
  • Prepare and present reports on technical performance, maintenance status, and project outcomes to senior management.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and ensure that services and materials meet quality standards and contractual obligations.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for technical failures or incidents.
  • Coordinate with the crew and external agencies during emergency situations.

Requirements:

  • Relevant maritime certifications are required.
  • Years of experience in marine engineering or technical management roles, preferably with experience in a superintendent or similar position.
  • Proven track record of managing vessel maintenance and technical projects in the marine sector.
