Description:

Full-time position (40 hours/week)
The Burnaby School District invites applications for the above full-time CUPE position. The Technical Support Specialist has primary responsibility for the operational support of staff end-users which includes software applications and services and user account management. The Technical Support Specialist creates informational and instructional documentation, training materials, and designs and delivers end-user training as needed. This incumbent will also provide first level software and hardware troubleshooting and support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from a recognized university or 2-year technical program, including or supplemented by appropriate certifications, plus a minimum of four years related experience.
Extensive knowledge of computer operation and software applications related to work performed.
Thorough knowledge of desktop class hardware types and configuration.
Thorough knowledge of network operations, network operating systems, and applicable network software applications.
Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 5) and vehicle for transportation between sites.

Responsibilities:

Maintains and updates a variety of user accounts and associated network administrative systems.
Creates, updates, and closes work order tickets; prioritizes calls to other technicians as required. Initiates and maintains the user database.
Provides leadership and technical training to staff as required.
Coordinate the posting of service notifications and information to district staff as required.
