Description:
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Technical Training Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing training programs for all employees at the gas plant facilities. This includes ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, enhancing employee skills, and promoting a safe and efficient working environment.
The ideal candidate will have had direct work experience as a Plant Operator in a complex Gas Plant facility and will be able to use that technical knowledge to develop and implement training programs for all CSV Plant Operators in our various Gas Plant facilities in the Grande Prairie region. An operational background in natural gas processing is required.
Please note that this is a contract position.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design, develop, and update training materials and programs to meet the needs of gas plant operations.
- Ensure training programs comply with all industry regulations and company policies.
- Incorporate new technologies and methodologies into training programs.
- Conduct training sessions for new hires, ongoing training for current employees, and refresher courses.
- Utilize a variety of training methods including hands-on, classroom, and online training.
- Coordinate with external training providers as necessary.
- Maintain accurate training records and ensure all employees are compliant with mandatory training requirements.
- Prepare reports on training activities and compliance for management review.
- Ensure training certifications and qualifications are up-to-date.
- Assess the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments.
- Conduct evaluations and feedback sessions with employees to ensure understanding and retention of training material.
- Monitor and report on employee performance improvements following training.
- Work closely with department heads to identify training needs and gaps.
- Communicate regularly with plant management to align training programs with operational goals.
- Facilitate effective communication between trainers, trainees, and management.
- Stay informed about industry trends, advancements, and best practices in training and development.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the training program’s effectiveness.
- Participate in professional development opportunities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Certification in Power Engineering is preferred but not required (i.e., 4th class power engineering and above).
- Post secondary diploma or certificate in Education, Training, or a related field would be considered an asset but is not required.
- Certification in training and development (e.g., CTP, CPLP) would be considered an asset but not required
- Strong knowledge and an operational background in natural gas processing is required.
- 3+ years of experience in a training coordinator or similar role, in the oil and gas industry.
- Experience in developing and delivering training programs for industrial or technical operations required.
- Strong knowledge of training methodologies and adult learning principles.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards in the gas processing and midstream industry.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to gas plant operations in Alberta.
- Approachable and engaging interpersonal style.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to represent the Company in front of CSV workers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to effectively communicate and facilitate training programs in front of groups of people.
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
In addition, the successful candidate will have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and will be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.
While this is a contract position, we will offer relocation support to the right candidate if they need to relocate to Grande Prairie for this role.
