Description:

About the Contract
Welcome to Beaker & Wrench, where we disrupt the status quo of processing equipment with our patented innovations and forward thinking improvements for optimal throughput. Started from the ground up by an engineer and a chemist, Beaker & Wrench is celebrating its 8th year in business in 2024.
We are looking for a technical writer who can produce and revise our Operating & Maintenance Manuals for customers of our various product lines within Beaker & Wrench branding guidelines as well as produce templates for our manuals to make it easier for the technical staff to help provide detailed information that can be edited in a user-friendly language for operators to understand. Manuals typically include installation, safety, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting. Monthly contact hours will vary, but the initial backlog will require 10-25 hours/week. This can be a fully remote position, but contractors that can come on site as needed or are located in a US Time Zone are preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze existing manuals content to develop templates in Google Docs with reuse of boilerplate content to help with the development of new manuals
  • Update existing operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Follow Beaker & Wrench’s branding guidelines to create manuals that convey and support the company’s core vision.
  • Write clear, simple content to convey information and instructions in a logical manner.
  • Use illustrations (CAD or Images) as needed to make the manuals user-friendly.
  • Work with the technical team to obtain an in-depth understanding of the products and the standard legal industry requirements.
  • Communicate multiple project status (schedule, plans and milestones) proactively to the project lead.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Industrial design preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Google Docs, including extensions and add-ons.
  • Experience with CAD systems and/or graphics software.
  • Proven experience in technical writing, with samples of prior work.
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment, laboratory or chemical equipment preferred.
  • Excellent spelling and grammar skills.
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong Communication skills
