Fexco Drive Product & Innovation are currently recruiting for a Technical Writer to join their team. This role is a full-time, 12 month fixed-term contract, with the opportunity to work from our offices based in Killorglin, Co. Kerry with some flexibility to work a hybrid model.
Job Purpose:
We are currently seeking a Technical Writer with minimum 5 years’ work experience to join our team. The Technical Writer will be responsible for leading Fexco’s technical documentation strategy as well as producing high-quality digital and written documentation as part of that strategy. This is a critical role that will contribute to the overall success of our payments products.
This role will suit an experienced technical writer who is very comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role in a software engineering environment, creating technical documentation (SDK documents, API and other specifications), user guides and other product material.
  • Experience in creating and implementing a new strategic approach to technical writing in a new environment preferable.
  • Ideally possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Technical Writing, Technical Communications, or a related field, or engineering degrees with excellent English writing skills. Spanish and/or Portuguese writing skills is an advantage.
  • Willingness to assume significant responsibility, ownership, and accountability for work.
  • Self-directed, highly motivated individual with excellent organisation skills.
  • Build cross functional and cross-departmental rapport, fostering overall effectiveness.
  • Ability to read and write specs in OpenAPI/Swagger and knowledge of Restful design.
  • Knowledge ofUML/BPMN to enrich documentation with diagrams.
  • High level of proficiency in Confluence and SharePoint.
  • Excellent English language communication skills, both verbal and written and an ability to tailor communication style for various audiences. Spanish / Portuguese language skills are a distinct advantage.
  • Familiarity with AI tools including Microsoft Co-pilot is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop and implement cross-Product documentation management strategy. This includes introducing a new best practice approach to how Fexco creates, stores and manages all product documentation. This will become applicable across all Fexco technical domains.
  • Enable the above approach by producing high-quality, accurate documentation, ensuring it is appropriate for its intended audience which could be internal and external to Fexco.
  • Perform technical writing, research, and necessary editing to prepare documents, product manuals, reports, user guides, implementation guides, briefings, presentations, guidelines, release notes, process flows and other materials.
  • Create and update customer user guides, product procedures and service catalogues in line with product releases.
  • Enable AI tools that create greater efficiency in how our documentation is created.
  • In line with the aforementioned approach, create, manage & maintain documentation repositories so that documentation is well organised and easily accessible. Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for these repositories.
  • Collaborate with internal teams e.g. Business Owners, Product Manager/Product Owner, Project Managers, Software & QA Engineers, UX Designers and internal customers to gain an in-depth understanding of the business and the product to inform documentation requirements.
  • Liaise with content owners across the business, to ensure that there is a consistent tone of voice and approach to customer facing material.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of technical documentation and ensure that it meets appropriate compliance standards.
  • Suggest and implement continuous improvement to the technical writing process and toolset.
