You will work closely with Lead Engineers to determine what content needs to be included in the manuals. Approximately 70% of the material will be reused from existing documentation or functional specifications, while the remaining 30% will require your technical writing expertise to create new content.
Beyond writing, you will also play a key role in our efforts to professionalize our documentation processes. Together with an external partner, you will help implement modern tools and approaches, such as DITA/XML architecture, to create more structured and efficient documentation systems. If you have experience with these methodologies, it will be a significant advantage.

- Collaborate closely with Lead Engineers to extract and adapt content from functional specifications.
- Work with an external partner to modernize documentation processes using DITA/XML tools.
- Contribute to a more structured and professional approach to technical writing within the organization.
- Ensure that all documentation is clear, accurate, and user-friendly, enabling end users to operate and maintain our systems effectively.
Your profile:
To excel in this role, you have:

- Strong affinity with technology and an interest in understanding complex technical systems.
- Experience in technical writing, particularly for automation systems or technical products.
- Proficiency in software tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Illustrator, and Visio.
- Knowledge of DITA/XML methodologies and content management systems (preferred).
- A solid foundation in technical English; proficiency in Dutch is a plus
Only candidates with a valid EU work visa will be considered.
We offer:
- A competitive gross monthly salary + 8% holiday allowance (based on a full-time working week).
- Good work/life balance with 40 vacation days for full-time employment with the option to buy or sell (additional) leave.
- The possibility to work from home with associated expense allowance and/or to perform the work on the basis of flexible working hours (depending on the position).
- An average salary pension scheme in which matters are properly arranged in the event of accidental death, incapacity for work or unemployment.
- Good disability insurance.
- Participation (on a voluntary basis) in the Social Fund, on the basis of which care and related costs are reimbursed that are not covered by your health insurance.
- Discount on VGZ’s additional healthcare insurance.
- A training budget of €1,500 every three years.
- Unlimited sporting in our own fitness room (in exchange for the sustainable employability day).
- € 0,21 per kilometer commuting allowance.
- A profit-sharing scheme.
In 2042 (when we exist 400 years) Royal IHC will be a fully sustainable company with a net-zero portfolio.
Selection process:
After your application, a CV screening will take place. If your profile aligns sufficiently, a brief telephone intake with the Corporate Recruiter will follow. If not, you will be informed via email. The selection process consists of two interview rounds. The first interview will be with the manager and a direct colleague.
