ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Evaluates and escalates VPN related problem situations related to hardware and software configurations and assists in analyzing and resolving production problems in Client Server or LAN/WAN environments.
Assists in designing and reviews functional specifications, system specification, and program specifications for programmers. Defines, creates, and maintains highly complex database file structures to support user needs.
Assists in preparing documentation to the appropriate level of detail with respect to requirements definition, analysis, and design, and provides estimates of time and resources, required to perform software development tasks.
Acts as liaison to local law enforcement for troubleshooting, providing platform support and coordinating training needs.
Performs routine operating, maintenance and support functions including assisting in developing tests, debugs and maintains computer applications in Client Server, LAN/WAN and PC environments.
Develops a variety of training materials and assists in end user training and support for both internal and external users of the VPN and J-One platforms.
Designs and configures help desk workflows; extracts and publishes data from help desk software for Executive level and agency reporting, audits and verifies results for completeness and accuracy.
Assist in or implements operating system updates and enhancements, and plans, evaluates and recommends related desktop hardware and software standards.
Plan, implement, and maintain technical documentation related to the VPN platform, and evaluates and recommend upgrade methodologies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate’s degree
36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor’s degree
54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master’s degree
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with major study in mathematics, computer science, business administration or a related degree field with at least fifteen (15) credit hours in the field of computer science. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Five years’ experience in computer programming or design, three years of which shall have involved the support, development, and maintenance of a software operating system. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: Must be eligible for a valid New Hampshire driver’s license and have access to transportation for use in statewide travel.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Selected candidate will undergo a fingerprint based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check in order to ensure suitability for exposure to confidential information.
  2. Experience in criminal justice information systems and development of distributed, multi-tier, components-based architectures utilizing source control management.
  3. May be required to work a flexible schedule including, but not limited to, early morning, evening and/or weekend hours. May be required to be available to return to work during nonstandard work hours to perform timely problem resolution tasks.
