JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the BMS and the Genomics CORES manager, the CORES technician will provide technical support with the daily operation of the equipment, communicating with investigators and students and maintaining and ensuring the adequate record keeping of data generated in the lab. The position focuses on providing technical support to the Genomics and Biological Mass Spectrometry (BMS) CORES facility.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Undergraduate degree in biological or medical science with minimum one year of laboratory experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in hands-on working with DNA and RNA including extraction from various tissue types, PCR/RT-PCR/NGS library preparation experience.
• Proven interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

• Maintaining records of tasks completed for invoicing purposes.
• DNA & RNA extraction from a variety of source materials.
• Analyte extraction and processing from a variety of sample types for proteomic, metabolomic, and lipidomic analyses.
• Daily routine maintenance of instruments and troubleshooting issues with instruments, sample pipelines, and data quality.
• Effectively communicating day-to-day duties/results with senior staff.
• Procurement of basic lab supplies as needed from Dal Central Stores.
