ABOUT THE PROJECT
Professor Eric Mackay and Professor Arne Skauge from the Institute of GeoEnergy Engineering (IGE) at the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society are pleased to continue and grow their research activities in energy transition, thanks to an investment exceeding $1M Canadian Dollars from Energi Simulation.
The Calgary-based not-for-profit Energi Simulation, which promotes and financially supports research & development and graduate students through research grants at universities and industry research centres, is renewing its successful and award-winning chair programme at Heriot-Watt University, which has been ongoing for the past 14 years.
To further grow IGE’s research portfolio that supports the transition to a low-carbon energy future and underpin Energi Simulation’s vision to create a more sustainable energy future through simulation research, Professor Mackay’s chair will focus on CCUS (carbon capture, utilization and storage) and Reactive Flow Simulation and Professor Skauge’s chair will focus on Low Net Carbon Enhanced Oil Recovery.
Responsibilities:
ROLE: TECHNICIAN
Grade and Salary: Grade 4, £22,681 - £25,138 per annum
Contract & Working Hours: 18 Months Fixed term - 15 hours per week for 13 weeks, then 5 hours per week for 65 weeks.
Holiday Entitlement: 28 days annual leave plus 9 buildings closed days (and Christmas Eve when it falls on a weekday) (pro-rata)
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful appointee will be expected to undertake the following duties:
Collect information about their own and fellow research students
- ' projects.
- Use this information to populate and update a web site that they will be responsible for building and maintaining.
- They will also collate news information, publications, publishable data sets, and conference opportunities from research and support staff associated with chair teams for inclusion on the website.
Some travel may be required to conferences, training courses and industry events.
