Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
As Technician I, Facilities, you will be responsible for the execution of work and preventive maintenance (PM) orders to support current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at OmniaBio. This role is site-based, to support 24/7 manufacturing activities at OmniaBio’s Hamilton, Ontario, facility. The Technician I, Facilities, will share routine on-call coverage for after-hours maintenance, as required. Training for this role will be provided at the OmniaBio-affiliated Canadian Advanced Therapies Training Institute, located at the University of Guelph.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A post-secondary education in a technical discipline would be an asset.
- Minimum of 1 year of prior industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical or lab environment.
- Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, building and construction, and general knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements.
- Skilled in using computer software systems, such as Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
- GMP and SAP ERP experience is an asset.
- Strong English written and oral communication skills.
- Able to lift or carry 40+ pounds.
Responsibilities:
- Complies with all personnel management policies and procedures, and maintains an organized, clean and safe work area.
- Provides support on all matters related to maintenance.
- Uses SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to obtain and complete all required PM and facility maintenance orders in compliance with GMP/Good Documentation Practices and manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Completes all paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
- Facilitates the receipt and handover of equipment between maintenance staff and user groups.
- Helps with simple calibration tasks such as pressure gauges and thermocouples.
- Inspects grounds, buildings and other property features, as required, to minimize liability concerns.
- Works with the Supervisor, Facilities, to ensure that the property is maintained according to company operating and safety standards.
- Assists with equipment move-in/move-out process, as needed.
- Ensures details of maintenance work performed are communicated to the user group and supervisor.
- Supports continuous improvement and embraces the OmniaBio Operating Model.
- Uses the process control system to ensure equipment is functioning as expected daily.
- Identifies and reports unusual equipment operation, deficiencies, and deviations immediately.
- Supports deviation investigations and root cause identification and recommends corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborates with cross-functional groups, including the Process Science and Analytical Development, Manufacturing Science and Technology, Operations/Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and materials management teams, among others, to coordinate maintenance activities.
- Accommodates a flexible schedule to include shift work, as well as weekend and on-call availability to support operating schedules and/or respond to process problems.
- Receives guidance and mentoring from Technician II, Facilities.
- Completes all other relevant duties, as assigned.
