Description:

Overview:
This position is primarily responsible for providing design support to engineers for transportation and drainage projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare plans, profiles and detail drawings using Microstation and OpenRoads
  • Develop construction documents showing topographical contours, elevations, profiles and cross-sections as well as develop draft design engineering drawings
  • Understand and use established company standards for drafting, including layer names, line and character styles, and drawing and filenames for sheet layout
  • Analyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete drawings with minimal supervision
  • Apply knowledge of roadway design requirements to continuously advance ability to provide support
  • Communicate effectively with project manager(s) about progress on assigned projects
  • Maintain organized work area to allow access to project information by other team members
  • Be flexible working on multiple assignments with several teams simultaneously

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Post-high school training in any form of Computer-Aided drafting and design
  • This is an entry level position and training/mentoring will be provided on the job for the specific softwares and technologies that are used in this role.
  • Aptitude for and interest in computer technologies in the creation of roadways and other types of physical infrastructure
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with colleagues
  • Highly motivated self-starter with initiative to learn
  • Ability to work independently within a team environment
  • Must be able to operate a company vehicle
  • Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice
  • Must be able to work 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed
  • Occasional travel will be required
