Description:
Overview:
This position is primarily responsible for providing design support to engineers for transportation and drainage projects.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare plans, profiles and detail drawings using Microstation and OpenRoads
- Develop construction documents showing topographical contours, elevations, profiles and cross-sections as well as develop draft design engineering drawings
- Understand and use established company standards for drafting, including layer names, line and character styles, and drawing and filenames for sheet layout
- Analyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete drawings with minimal supervision
- Apply knowledge of roadway design requirements to continuously advance ability to provide support
- Communicate effectively with project manager(s) about progress on assigned projects
- Maintain organized work area to allow access to project information by other team members
- Be flexible working on multiple assignments with several teams simultaneously
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Post-high school training in any form of Computer-Aided drafting and design
- This is an entry level position and training/mentoring will be provided on the job for the specific softwares and technologies that are used in this role.
- Aptitude for and interest in computer technologies in the creation of roadways and other types of physical infrastructure
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with colleagues
- Highly motivated self-starter with initiative to learn
- Ability to work independently within a team environment
- Must be able to operate a company vehicle
- Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice
- Must be able to work 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed
- Occasional travel will be required
