Position Overview
QC Technicians will assist the QA manager and HACCP Coordinator/SQF Practitioner in maintaining record keeping for pre-requisite programs and HACCP programs to comply with regulatory requirements and SQF standards. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Science or diploma (food science or related field) and a minimum of 1 year of related experience (e.g. QC/QA Technologists, Co-op, internship, or research project). The QA/QC Specialist will be reporting to the QA Manager. You will also be responsible for Quality Assurance Control Technician duties as needed.
Position: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: 45k - 57k
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Day Shift)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain record keeping for pre-requisite and HACCP programs.
  • Assist QA manager and HACCP Coordinator/SQF Practitioner in internal audit
  • Deal with customer complaints and corrective action reports.
  • Conduct sensory evaluation on retention sample product and finished product.
  • Conduct new employee and yearly GMP, CCP, SOPs, and Corrective Actions training for plant personnel
  • Verify Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Critical Control Point (CCP) records
  • Trend preparation.
  • Solution preparation for CCPs and QCP verification.
  • Perform CCP and QCP checks for verification.
  • Pest control verification.
  • Perform internal audits.
  • Verify calibration.
  • Perform validations.
  • Perform daily plant inspections, raw material, WIP, and finish product evaluations pre-operational and in-process for all plants by rotation).
  • Perform in-process product sampling for Hold and Release Program.
  • Perform product evaluation for QA release.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree or diploma (food science or related field)
  • Minimum of 1 year in Quality Assurance/ Quality Control activities with HACCP
  • certification and experience in HACCP documentation.
  • Knowledge of SQF standards would be an asset.
  • Good practical knowledge of GMP and Food Safety.
  • Possesses excellent analytical, problem-solving solving and
  • decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as work effectively within a team.
  • Positive, can-do attitude, and excellent communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and has exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and the internet.
  • A valid driver’s license and a vehicle to move between plants is preferred.
  • Flexible working schedule is required.
