Description:

As the innovation companion for the technological industry, Sirris is the trusted reference for technology adoption in Belgium. We help companies to realise their innovation ambitions with hands-on support. At the heart of our services stand over 150 multi-disciplinary experts and a broad set of industrial labs spread over 8 Belgian sites, backed by the country’s most extensive innovation network. They ensure about 1,300 organisations a year reap the benefits of technological innovation.

TECHNICIAN (TURNER AND MILLER) FOR METALWORKING | TEST LAB GHENT

In our various high-tech test labs in Belgium, materials, components and product samples (including adhesives, composites, plastics, 3D prints, metals and coatings) are tested using descriptive, destructive and non-destructive tests. This allows us to find out where the limits of the (end) products lie and to provide our customers with a comprehensive report and customised advice.
We are currently looking for a technician, or in other words, a heavy metal freak for our test lab in Ghent!
Are you technically trained and interested in machining and metalworking? Do you like to roll up your sleeves, work according to a certain routine and are you driven to respond quickly so that you can meet the weekly delivery deadlines? Do you like working autonomously, but also enjoy being part of a small, close-knit team in which you are an indispensable link? Then you might be the new colleague we are looking for!

Responsibilities:

  • As a technician, you will prepare test samples/samples on which mechanical and chemical tests will be performed by your colleagues.
  • You will be responsible for the mechanical processing and machining of these test samples.
  • You will read and interpret machining instructions and as a machine operator you will be responsible for setting, programming and operating the machines.
  • You will mainly perform conventional turning and milling work, but you will also operate the CNC controlled machines for processing larger series of samples.
  • You will be keen to learn and gain knowledge to eventually carry out mechanical tests yourself.
