Description:
Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Technologist through October 4th, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. (Central Time).
Information management of Geophysical and Petrophysical data. Responsible for digitization of legacy products, ensuring new products are recorded and accurately loaded in internal formats for end users.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Information Management of Geophysical and Petrophysical data: responsible for locating and retrieving digital and hard copies of seismic data. Responsible for digitization of legacy products and ensuring new products are recorded and accurately loaded in internal formats for end users. Regularly interact with service and storage suppliers, support costs negotiation, manage the transference of Geophysical and Petrophysical datasets, and dataset destruction with the various providers. Responsible for management of data stored with external suppliers. Ensure consistent standards are applied to geophysical and well log data.
- Earth Science GIS: use key GIS skills to perform routine to complex tasks in customizing, data management, editing graphs and charts, generating maps for well log and seismic data for presentations, contracting, and seismic acquisition permitting activities. Deliver complex map analysis and GIS integration of petrophysics/geophysical products.
- Manage MCBU Seismic Survey Permits interacting with legal department, maintaining current agreement standards and adjustments. Provide technical support to negotiations with other oil companies, landowners and geophysical suppliers for all seismic permits. Leverage information to provide insight on competitor seismic activity. Track permits in ArcGIS for reference to all requests and where CVX has interest. Maintain permanent original permit files. Support and participate in stakeholder engagement with HES, Legal, AD, Operations and outside companies.
- Finance: Support management of G&G project spend, seismic licensing and processing projects, and reporting.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience managing Geophysical storage solutions and costs.
- Experience retrieving digital and hard copy data of seismic field, seismic processed datasets, well log information, and supporting documentation to enable use of the products.
- Able to support management of seismic permits.
- Experienced with GIS and mapping skills, editing graphs and charts, generating maps for seismic, deliver complex map analysis and GIS integration of geological/geophysical products.
- Good organization skills, ability to adapt to oil company systems and functions
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of data management experience.
- Experience managing petrophysical data.
- Ability to support relations and negotiations with external suppliers related to contracts and geophysical data management solutions.
- Ability to coach team members to enhance their data management skills.
- Experience in Shale & Tight assets is desirable.
