This is a predominantly office-based role requiring substantial interaction with engineers from a range of disciplines, internal and external customers and sub-contractors. International and national travel may be required in this role.
What you’ll be doing :

In this role you will be expected to assume a broad range of responsibilities including:

  • Leading investigations of shop-floor and supply chain manufacturing-related issues/deviations and the development of recommendations for problem resolution.
  • Supply chain approval/audits and special process development
  • Governance and provision of guidance on the content of materials and process specifications.
  • Approval of special process and special process control documentation
  • Stakeholder oversight of metallurgical processes e.g. etching, hardness testing etc within manufacturing facilities.
  • Creation, governance or approval of materials specifications.
  • Development and creation of policies and procedures for use both within department and more broadly within business.
  • Report writing for materials special process approval.
  • The team covers a broad range of materials disciplines. Knowledge of stainless steels, nickel-based alloys and key processes such as welding and heat treatment would be highly beneficial.

  • Preferably you will be educated to Degree level or equivalent in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related subject.
  • Relevant industrial experience in an engineering environment, ideally in relation to nuclear or power plant applications would be highly beneficial.
  • You will be able to communicate effectively both in written reports and presentations, to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.
  • You will have demonstrable experience of producing high quality technical documentation.
  • You will be proficient in the use of standard PC-based software applications.
