Technology Support Specialist - Northpoint University
Job Type: Part-Time
Position Summary: Northpoint University is seeking a dedicated and tech-savvy individual to join the team as a Technology Support Specialist. This position will be responsible for supporting faculty, staff, and students in utilizing various software technologies, including Populi, YouTube, and other educational tools. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional service within a Christian educational environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience working with Populi or similar Student Information Systems (SIS).
  • Strong familiarity with YouTube, video management, and website integration.
  • Knowledge of other common software tools used in academic settings (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Learning Management Systems).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and a strong work ethic.
  • A strong commitment to supporting the mission and values of Northpoint University.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in a higher education or Christian college environment.
  • Familiarity with other specialized software (e.g., Moodle).
  • Basic understanding of HTML or video editing software (for creating instructional videos).

Responsibilities:

  • Populi Support: Oversee and manage Populi, the college’s student information system (SIS). Provide technical support for Populi, including troubleshooting, training, and helping faculty and staff navigate its features (grading, course management, reports, etc.).
  • YouTube Integration & Support: Assist faculty and staff in uploading and managing video content on YouTube, helping with video optimization, creating playlists, and integrating videos with the college’s learning management systems or websites.
  • Software Support: Offer support and guidance for other software tools used across campus (e.g., learning management systems, Office 365, etc.), ensuring smooth operation and assisting with training when necessary.
  • Technical Training: Develop and deliver training materials and sessions for faculty, staff, and students, focusing on how to effectively use Populi, YouTube, and other key technologies appropriate to the institution.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve software-related issues quickly, ensuring minimal disruption to faculty, staff, and student workflows.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay current on the latest technology trends and best practices related to Populi, YouTube, and other relevant technologies.
