Description:

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The technical operations engineer is responsible for operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining mission critical infrastructure which requires advanced level Linux server administration, scripting, and configuration management in a 24/7 environment. This role requires proactively monitoring all aspects of the platform including hardware, network, and software and being able to respond quickly and effectively to any issues.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience
  • Proven experience working in a 24/7 SaaS environment
  • Deep understanding of Linux administration
  • Scripting or programming ability in one or more of Python, Ruby, Bash
  • Proven experience with configuration management tools like Chef, Ansible, or Salt
  • Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and proven ability to debug network issues
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Nagios, Grafana, Kibana
  • Solid understanding of Docker and containerization technologies

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactively monitor all aspects of the platform including hardware, network, and software
  • Identify, respond to and resolve incidents quickly and efficiently
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems spanning servers, networks, and applications
  • Plan, schedule, and deploy upgrades to infrastructure (hardware and software)
  • Maintain a secure operating environment by adhering to established standards
  • Propose, participate in and lead projects to support explosive business growth
  • Propose and work on automation projects to drive operational efficiencies
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to support the 24/7 environment
